Membership Requirements
| Membership in the Department is open to all qualified residents 18 years of age or older who are in good physical condition and able to pass the entrance physical. Youths between the ages of 14 and 18 can join our juniors membership program. The Department membership currently stands at 170 men and women who answer the calls for help 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. In addition, members must meet certain Quota requirements as established by the Chief with the approval of the Board. Local, State and Federal authorities mandate many of these requirements. |

Members are offered free training in both fire fighting and emergency medical
services. Both in-house and state run fire training is offered on a regular
schedule. As a new member, you can become state-certified in fire fighting We
also offer courses in firefighter safety and survival, fire pump operations,
vehicle extrication, rope rescue and much more.
Additionally, you can become a state-certified EMT. Whatever your
area of interest, we have training for you!

A Member is eligible to participate in our Service Awards Program after one year
of service and after five years of service with
the Centereach Volunteer Fire Department, members become vested in our service awards
program. This program is designed to provide a pension to volunteer firefighters
when they retire. The amount of the pension is directly related to the length of
service rendered to the fire company. What a great way to plan for your future!

Centereach Volunteer Fire Department is a

attending our annual awards banquet or family picnic, a professional sporting
event, or just hanging out together, Centereach is a
fun-filled family-oriented atmosphere.
